The Rosebank Shetland Flock was started in 1998 focusing on mainly White and Grey Katmoget colours and pattern. Today the flock now also includes colours of Moorit, Fawn Katmoget, Black and a few Spotted sheep.
We attend about 10 shows a year and have had many Champions. The highlight so far at is achieving Reserve Female Champion (1998 & 2012), Reserve Male Champion (2006) Reserve Overall Shetland Champion (2007), best Lamb (2006 & 2012) and best Group of Three (2007) at the Royal Highland Show.
We also show and have won many prizes with our wool in Wool on the Hoof and clipped fleece classes.
Shetland Sheep are a hardy breed, easy to lamb, excellent mothers and have a great range of colours and patterns to choose from. We lamb from end of March to beginning of May.
We have breeding stock and raw fleeces for sale privately but we also attend Rare Breed sales in the Autumn at Lanark, Stirling and Carlisle. Although we do not cross our sheep, Ewes can be crossed best with the Chieviot or Beltex producing excellent lambs for the meat trade and Rams can be crossed with ewe hogs in their first winter producing hardy lambs in the spring allowing comercial sheep farmers to gain an extra crop of lambs.
